Default El Yunque National Forest

El Yunque National ForestYou will be pick up at your hotel and transferred to El Yunque National Forest. On the way, the guide will give you a brief introduction about Puerto Rico. We headed for Highway 191 that leads into the Forest. Ten minutes passing over the 191 our first stop will be at the entrance of the Forest. This area of “El Portal” is also known as the experimental area. Our guide will show you the trees from around the world that are in this portion of the forest in order to see its development in a tropical rainforest. Also in EL Portal our guide will talk about the importance of tropical forests in the world how many and where they are located on the planet. They will also talk about the four forest types found in El Yunque and it’s flora and fauna. Then we’re going to watch a 20-minute documentary movie that the USDA has prepared for your enjoyment. Bathroom facilities, a bookstore and souvenir shop is also found in these facilities.
Our second stop will be at La Coca Falls at an elevation of 1, 476 feet (450 meters) above sea level. This waterfall is impressive and is the first waterfall that visitors see when visiting the Forest. After taking several pictures and having heard the information from our guide. We made our way to the Tower Yokahú.
In the Yokahú tower our guide will take you up to the roof to see a panoramic view of the forest and the east coast of Puerto Rico. We explain a brief history of the tower and the Indians beliefs.
The next stop will be in one of the trails that not many people know about. There you can see one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the Forest. The name of the trail and it’s location is a surprise and if we are lucky we may see a walking stick insect or a coqui.

Our last stop is at the Mina Falls. The walk is 30 minutes 30 minutes round trip. Bring your bathing suits if you want to take a dip in this waterfall.
