Day 1: Arrival at Accra, check in at hotel, rest of the day free until the official start of the program by the Welcome Dinner at 7 pm. Accommodation: ** or *** Day 2: Drive very early morning (start 6 am) to Kakum NP, complete the canopy walk and then another longer trail in the forest, lunch after the walks at Hans Cottage. Drive to Elmina, visit the Cape Coast Castle. Dinner and overnight in Elmina. Accommodation: ** or *** Day 3: All day historic exploration, visit Elmina Slave Castle, Steel Cross Fort and others and visit Dixcove village on foot. Return to Elmina late afternoon for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: ** or *** Day 4: Drive to Kumasi. Stop at Assin Manso en route. Visit the Manhyia Palace Museum and the Okomfo Anokye Sword, before checking in at the hotel late afternoon. Accommodation: ** or *** Day 5: A very long day drive to Mole NP. After departure, visit Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, and then proceed on to Mole. Check in at our lodge mid afternoon and go for an evening game drive. Accommodation: ** Day 6: Very early morning game drive in Mole NP, return at around 9 for full breakfast, visit Mognori Eco Village after breakfast, lunch and siesta at lodge, visit Larabanga Mosque and Mystic Stone early afternoon, game drive in the park late afternoon. Accommodation: ** Day 7: Very long driving day to Kara. Early departure from Mole, visit a Dagomba tribal village en route, visit Gnani Witch Camp, cross to Togo, visit a Kokomba village before reaching Kara. Check into hotel late in the afternoon. Accommodation: ** or *** Day 8: Early breakfast, drive to the Kabye Mountains (famous for blacksmith and potters), proceed to Losso land. Visit the soukala (typical Losso people habitat), before we drive through the Defale Ranges to Koutammakou, land of the Betammariba. Visit their “takienta”, the mud fortified houses. Cross to Benin, drive through the land of the Somba to Natitingou. Overnight in Natitingou. Accommodation: ** or *** Day 9: Early departure from Natitingou, drive through Atakora Mountains, enter Pendjari NP, game drive to the lodge, lunch and siesta, afternoon game drive till dusk. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Accommodation: ** Day 10: Early morning breakfast, depart from lodge, game drive through the park until we reach the gate, drive to the Yom Cliffside village of Taneka Koko via Natitingou. Lunch in Djougou, and then scenic drive to Savalou. Visit the world famous Dankoli Shrine, followed by a drive to Bohicon. Dinner and overnight in Bohicon. Accommodation: ** Day 11: Drive to Abomey early in the morning, visit the town till early lunch, drive to Abomey-Calavi harbour, start boat tour to Ganvie till later in the day, drive to Ouidah late in the afternoon. Bouriyan dance organized for visitors this evening. Dinner and overnight at Ouidah. Accommodation: ** or *** Day 12: Ouidah is considered the capital of voodoo, so after visiting the slave trade memories (Door of No Return etc) this morning, we will focus on the Kpasse Sacred Forest and the Temple of Pythons. From here we drive back to Togo and after arrival at Aneho for lunch. Right after lunch, we participate in a voodoo ceremony with drumming and dancing in Mammy Avlessi Rosa’s Shrine. We drive to Lomé, visit the famous fetish market of Akodessewa, before we head to the hotel for check in and dinner. Accommodation: ** or *** Day 13: Early morning city tour of Lomé, we drive to Segbe border post and enter Ghana again. We stop in Dzodze to visit the famous voodoo shrine, then continue to Akosombo (with lunch en route). Check in at our hotel late afternoon and enjoy the rest of the evening on the shores of River Volta, before we gather for a great Farewell Dinner. Accommodation: ** Day 14 : This morning we finally sleep in a little bit! Once finished with breakfast, we board the famous local cruise boat Dodi Princess, for a relaxing day trip on River Volta at 10:30 in the morning! We will have lunch on board and an hour break on Dodi Island, before we return to port at 4 pm. Once back on board our vehicle, we drive 90 minutes to Accra Airport and check in for our late evening flights to Europe. End of program, international departures.
